Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Italian Republic has presented a Letter of Credence to FAO Director-General
Mammad Ahmadzade, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Italian Republic has presented a Letter of Credence to Josè Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regarding his appointment as a Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN agencies in Rome.
After presentation of the Letter of Credence a bilateral meeting was held between the Director-General and the new Permanent Representative. Director General hailed the relations between Azerbaijan and FAO, and recalled with contentment his meetings with HE Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2012 and 2015 in Baku and in 2014 in Rome. He expressed confidence that the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office, which opened in Baku last year, would contribute to the development of existing ties between the organization and the country.
Mr. Ahmadzade stated that the Azerbaijani government attached special attention to the ties with FAO, adding these relations were very important for the country in terms of developing the agricultural field and reforming this sector. He noted that the sector of agriculture was priority in the diversification process of the economy and the increasing of non-oil export in Azerbaijan and informed about the achievements gained last years in this field.
The sides also discussed the current state and prospects of the relations between FAO and Azerbaijan.
