Minister Jeyhun Bayramov meets with the President of the Italian Senate Ignazio La Russa
During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, which have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership. It was noted that in recent years bilateral relations based on mutual trust, shared interests, and active political dialogue have further deepened.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of Azerbaijan-Italy cooperation across multiple areas, including politics, defense and security, economy and trade, energy and renewable energy, humanitarian affairs, tourism, culture, and education.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the participation of the President of Italy in the opening ceremony of the Italy-Azerbaijan University, the attendance of the Prime Minister of Italy at the COP29 Leaders’ Summit in Azerbaijan, as well as high-level contacts between the leaders of the two countries, have provided additional momentum to bilateral relations.
The parties underlined that strengthening interparliamentary relations and maintaining sustained political dialogueare of decisive importance for the future development of relations. In this context, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy was particularly highlighted in terms of reinforcing the institutional foundations of cooperation between the two countries and enhancing mutual support on regional and international parliamentary platforms.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information on the post-conflict realities stemming from the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, the steps taken to ensure peace and stability in the region, including large-scale reconstruction, rehabilitation, and reintegration processes in the liberated territories, as well as the participation of Italian companies in these efforts.
The sides also exchanged views on the regional security environment, multilateral cooperation formats, issues on the international agenda, and other topics of mutual interest.
