Agricultural cooperation issues discussed between Azerbaijan and Estonia

 

During his visit to Italy, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with Hendrik Johannes Terras, Estonia’s Minister of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, within the framework of the 44th Session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The meeting featured extensive discussions on opportunities for cooperation in the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, Minister Majnun Mammadov provided detailed information on the main directions of Azerbaijan’s agricultural development strategy, state support for the sector, and ongoing innovative projects. He emphasized that Azerbaijan supports all initiatives aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation with Estonia.

Estonia’s Minister of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, Hendrik Johannes Terras, in turn, expressed Estonia’s interest in developing partnership relations with Azerbaijan across all areas. He highlighted the significant potential for expanding cooperation in agriculture.

The meeting addressed various topics, including strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector and the legal-contractual framework, updating the Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation between the two countries, establishing a joint Working Group on agriculture, exchanging information on high-export-potential products, exporting Azerbaijani fruits and vegetables to Estonia, increasing trade in agricultural and food products, expanding business-to-business contacts, transferring modern technologies, exchanging experience in animal husbandry (including embryo transfer), and cooperation in agricultural research and education.

Both sides expressed their interest in further developing bilateral cooperation in agriculture and increasing trade in agricultural and food products between the two countries.

The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on matters of mutual interest.
