Italy’s RAI Television Channel broadcasts a report from Azerbaijan

Italy’s RAI television channel has aired an extensive report on the Gobustan National Historical and Artistic Reserve, the capital city of Baku, as well as the application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence solutions in Azerbaijan.

Barbara Carfagna, the journalist sent to Azerbaijan by the channel, noted that Azerbaijan is a country rich in cultural and natural heritage, describing the Gobustan Reserve as the stone memory of history and calling the rock carvings there astonishing. She stated that the petroglyphs and the Gaval Dash (musical stone) date from the 3rd-2nd millennia BC through the Middle Ages.

The report provides information on the open-air rock carvings located within the reserve, the exhibits displayed at the museum on the site, as well as the characteristics of the mud volcanoes at the Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex.

It was noted that the Gobustan rock carvings were first discovered in 1939. The Gobustan monuments were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2007, and in 2019 the Gobustan rock carvings were included in the Islamic World Heritage List.

The report also devoted special attention to the Azerbaijani capital and to the activities of “ASAN Service,” its service centers, and the innovative technologies being implemented. In addition, Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR Center), stated that the center is responsible for the analysis and coordination of challenges, initiatives, strategies, and projects related to the digital economy.

In an interview with the Italian journalist, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, noted that Azerbaijan is located at the intersection of trade routes connecting China with the European Union, as well as traditional logistics hubs between the Persian Gulf and Russian ports. He emphasized that this strategic location creates multifaceted connections. Alongside traditional logistics, Azerbaijan is investing in the creation of a new digital connection that will link East and West along the Caspian Sea. The project to lay a fiber-optic communication line along the seabed of the Caspian Sea will connect Azerbaijan to Europe. The “Digital Silk Road” will lead to an increasingly significant flow of data and digital traffic in the region and will become an integral part of the country’s digital telecommunications strategy.
