Participants of Italy’s Diplomacy Festival was informed about Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities
A meeting was held at the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Italy with the participants of XV Diplomacy Festival, attended by students from various universities in Rome.
At the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Rashad Aslanov gave a presentation to the students about our country’s rich history, its geographical and geopolitical position, new realities in the post-conflict period, priorities of its foreign policy, as well as its crucial energy projects.
The Ambassador stated that our country was the first democratic and secular country in the Muslim East, and that Azerbaijan, which regained its independence at the end of last century, encountered the military aggression of Armenia, and made progress towards the development in a difficult period under the leadership of National Leader Haydar Aliyev, who came to power at that time. He stated that under the leadership of Azerbaijan’s President, Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, our army liberated our territories and finalized the 30-year occupation so that our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty have been fully restored.
Diplomat also spoke about international events and sports competitions hosted by our country, indicated the significance of TAP pipeline carrying Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe, provided information regarding Italy-Azerbaijan University, significance and preparation process of COP29 to be hosted next month.
Afterwards, multiple questions of students were answered, various books published in Italian about Azerbaijan were presented to students by the embassy.
It should be noted that Diplomacy Festival, with the initiative of the Representative of European Commission in Italy, the European Parliament, the Italian Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, and the Italy Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, began on October 16 and will continue until October 25, 2024.
