Azerbaijan participates in a Charity Bazaar in Rome
The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Italy, the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan to the FAO, and the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Rome participated in the charity bazaar, presenting examples of Azerbaijani cuisine, national souvenirs, and handcrafted items.
At the opening ceremony, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and President of the United Nations Women’s Guild Rose Mary Vargas delivered opening remarks. In their speeches, they emphasized the growing problem of hunger worldwide and highlighted the importance of collective action, noting that initiatives of this kind are effective in addressing these challenges. Following the ceremony, the Director-General visited all the stands and familiarized himself with their displays.
The purpose of the charity event was to provide assistance to children and women in need worldwide. During the event, participating countries presented their cultural programs, and the sale of national contributions and traditional dishes was organized.
Alongside Azerbaijan, the embassies of Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Oman, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Senegal, Thailand, and Peru in Rome also took part in this year’s event.
The United Nations Women’s Guild, established in 1967, is a charitable organization that annually allocates funds raised from charity events to finance various projects supporting children and women in need across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
