President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev receives delegation led by Italy’s Minister for Enterprises and “Made in Italy” in Mingachevir
On 24 June 2025, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received in Mingachevir a delegation led by Italy’s Minister for Enterprises and “Made in Italy” Adolfo Urso.
During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction in recalling previous discussions between the Head of State and Minister Urso.
President Aliyev conveyed his gratitude to Adolfo Urso for participating in the inauguration of the “8 November” Power Plant and expressed hope for the continuation of joint projects in the future.
Minister Urso described Italy’s involvement in the construction of the power plant as a sign of friendship and fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
Recalling his numerous visits to Azerbaijan, Adolfo Urso expressed satisfaction at attending the event and mentioned his 2020 trip to the cities of Ganja and Aghdam.
The Head of State emphasized that Adolfo Urso was one of the first high-level representatives from a European country to visit the territories liberated from occupation, expressing his appreciation.
President Aliyev also noted that large-scale construction works are currently underway in the liberated territories and that three international airports have already been put into operation.
During the discussion, the strategic nature of bilateral relations was highlighted, with satisfaction expressed regarding the high level of political ties. The importance of reciprocal high-level visits in advancing Azerbaijan–Italy cooperation was also emphasized.
The parties discussed the significance of the functioning of the Intergovernmental Commission, exchanging views on cooperation in sectors including energy (including renewable energy), metallurgy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science, education, culture, and other areas.
Italy’s participation in reconstruction and construction projects in the liberated territories was appreciated, and prospects for cooperation between “AzərEnerji” and the Italian company “Ansaldo Energia” were reviewed.
