Azerbaijani Ambassador attends the Investiture Ceremony of new Captains Regent in San Marino
On April 1, 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of San Marino Rashad Aslanov attended the Investiture Ceremony of the Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino, Their Excellencies Alice Mina and Vladimiro Selva.
The opening ceremony of the event, which was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of San Marino, included an official flag-raising ceremony with the participation of the military corps. Then representatives of the diplomatic corps were introduced to the new Captains Regent at the Valloni Palace, followed by speeches by the doyen and finally by the Captains Regent.
In his speech, the Apostolic Nuncio Petar Rajic stated that the development of peaceful coexistence, through the promotion of dialogue, the balance of interests and the fundamental recognition of the dignity of all people and social communities, depends on the participation of subjects that seem less “important” in the grand scheme of history, and stressed that it is precisely these subjects who remind us that the fundamental goal and criterion for societies and political organizations is the freedom and independence of the human person.
As a matter of procedure, the Captains Regent then went to the Government Building and met with the current Captains Regent in the Hall of the Council of the Twelve, in the presence of the members of the Congress of State.
The event continued with a religious ceremony in the Saint’s Basilica. After the religious ceremony, the new Captains Regent were officially took an oath before the Minister of Internal Affairs in the Government Building and made a speech. Thus, they received from their predecessors the Collar of Grand Master of the Equestrian Order of San Marino.
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, who attended the event as an official speaker at the Government Building, delivered the speech.
Then, the national anthem was performed by a military orchestra and the event concluded with a flag-lowering ceremony accompanied by a military corps at Liberty Square, where the event began.
