Azerbaijan’s green energy policy presented in Catania
On April 23, 2026, a conference entitled “Energy, Environment and Water Resources in Mediterranean and Central Asia” was held in Catania, Sicily, Italy.
The conference was organized at the initiative of the Italian Asia Institute within the framework of Ecomed – Mediterranean Green Exhibition, and the speakers included former Italian Minister of environment, land and sea Corrado Clini, ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The focus of the discussions was on the role of international cooperation in promoting the application of sustainable technologies, increasing water efficiency and accelerating the energy transition, and building common models for increasingly sustainable territories.
At the conference, Ambassador Rashad Aslanov made an extensive presentation on Azerbaijan’s green energy policy and its contribution to Europe’s energy security.
As part of his visit to Catania, Ambassador R. Aslanov also met with the Mayor of Catania, Enrico Trantino. The meeting exchanged views on the 13th session of the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in May of this year, as well as expanding cooperation in the cultural field with Catania.
