Nowruz has been celebrated in Rome
In the Italian capital of Rome, the Azerbaijani Cultural Center, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy, organized a concert program entitled “Rhythms of the Land of Fire” on the occasion of Nowruz holiday, one of the oldest and richest holidays of our people. The event was held at the Torlonia Theater in Rome, which is distinguished by its historical and cultural significance.
The concert program began with the opening speech of the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Italian Republic Rashad Aslanov. Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan for its support in organizing the event, the Ambassador emphasized that Nowruz holiday is of special importance for the Azerbaijani people and noted that this tradition plays an important role in protecting national and spiritual values. He brought to the attention of the event participants that Nowruz, which covers a very wide geography, is included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List and that March 21 has been approved as International Nowruz Day in the UN calendar.
Later, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center Gulnar Taghizada and Azerbaijani student Rauf Jabbarov, studying in Rome, made presentations in Azerbaijani and Italian, respectively, talking about the traditions of Nowruz, the importance of the event, and provided information about the participating musicians and dancers.
In the artistic part of the event, the Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikret Amirov demonstrated the richness of national dances. The musical program featured the President's Prize winner, tar player Rovshan Gurbanov, Honored Artist, kamancha player Togrul Asadullayev, drum player Sayyar Teymurov, and mugham player Ravan Gachayev, who performed Azerbaijani national music pieces reflecting the spirit of Nowruz.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps, local public, cultural figures, and media representatives attended the concert. The event participants welcomed the concert program reflecting the richness of Azerbaijani culture with great interest.
