Azerbaijani partisans were commemorated in Italy
An event was held in the village of Monte di Nese, located in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy region of Italy, to commemorate 120 Azerbaijanis killed by the fascists in April 1945.
The commemoration ceremony consisted of an official and artistic part, and a wreath was laid in memory of the partisans.
The head of the municipality of Alzano Lombardo Camillo Bertocchi and the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Italian Republic Vugar Hajiyev delivered speech and spoke about the history of the events that took place 81 years ago.
V. Hajiyev stated that at that time, Azerbaijanis left their homes with the hope of returning, but fate directed them to become guardians of these mountains forever, and that those who gathered for the event in question instilled humanity by paying tribute to those people, and expressed gratitude to the local community for not allowing the memory of Azerbaijanis to be forgotten.
