Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzada presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Malta

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan accredited simultaneously to the Republic of Malta, with the residence in Rome, Mammad Ahmadzada presented his credentials to the president Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

M.Ahmadzada conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the President of the Republic of Malta and noted the intensity of the development of bilateral relations in recent years and expressed the commitment to develop those relations even further.

President of the Republic of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca in return requested to convey her greetings and best regards to the Azerbaijani colleague. Malta attaches great importance to the cooperation with Azerbaijan, in this regards high-ranked officials of Malta have paid official visits to Azerbaijan in recent years. President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca shared her positive impressions as to the participation in the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAC) held in Baku in April and her meeting with the President Ilham Aliyev in the course of that visit.

During the meeting the perspectives of development of relations in various fields, potential contribution of the Republic of Malta to the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation during the presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2017, as well as other topics of mutual interest have been discussed.

M.Ahmadzada met with the Foreign Minister George Vella, the speaker of the parliament of Malta Angelo Farruga, the head of parliament's foreign relations committee Luciano Busuttil, the head of the inter-parliamentary friendship group Chris Agius, as well as other members of the parliament. The current state and the prospects of bilateral relations, regional issues, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other issues of mutual interest have been discussed.
