Victory Day of Azerbaijan was celebrated in Italy
Victory Day-November 8 was celebrated at the Culture Center of Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy.
The event was attended by Italian officials and representatives of academic circles, ambassadors and diplomats, as well as our fellow citizens living in this country.
The ceremony began with the playing of National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a respectful remembrance for the sons of homeland who sacrificed their lives the freedom of our lands.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Italy, Rashad Aslanov, stated that Victory Day contains great importance for our country, that in the early 1990s Armenia made territorial claims and launched military aggression against our country. He also stressed that our territories remained under occupation for nearly 30 years and more than 1 million Azerbaijanis were displaced from their homelands due to the ethnic cleansing policy.
Diplomat stated that Azerbaijan, which did not reconcile with the occupation of its territories violation of rights of its citizens, did a great work to bring Armenia’s occupational policy and its consequences to the attention of international community, and recalling that international organizations, including United Nations Security Council, had adopted resolutions recognizing the fact of the occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories by Armenia and requiring the immediate, complete and unconditional removal of Armenia’s troops from Azerbaijani territories; however, Armenia did not perform the requirements of these resolutions for nearly 30 years and completely and deliberately disrupted the process of negotiations by taking provocative declarations and steps, indicating that Armenia’s real goal was to annex the territories of Azerbaijan.
Rashad Aslanov emphasized that victorious Azerbaijani Army liberated our occupied territories and the city of Shusha, which is dear for all Azerbaijanis, from occupation as a result of Patriotic War starting on September 27, 2024, and continuing 44 days. He highlighted that in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan has created new geopolitical realities in the region, is promoting the peace and progress agenda, is implementing large-scale projects aiming for the cleansing of mine-contaminated areas by Armenia during the occupation period and reconstruction of destroyed cities and villages.
Ambassador mentioned that Italian companies are actively engaging in projects in the liberated areas, and highlighting that Italy is a close friend, strategic partner of Azerbaijan.
Afterwards, a video clip was demonstrated regarding the Patriotic War for 44 days, the achieved victory, and reconstruction works realized in the liberated areas
The event concluded with a concert program and a banquet containing/consisting of Azerbaijani national cuisine.
