As part of the “Veneto Night” event in Venice, Italy, the presentation of the course “Introduction to the Azerbaijani Language” was held.

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Italy also participated in the event.

During the presentation, a meeting took place with the Vice-Rector of the University, Antonio Marcomini, Professor Elizabetta Raganin, who teaches Azerbaijani, and her assistant Lala Shirinova, where general relations between Azerbaijan and Italy were discussed, including cooperation in education, reforms in Azerbaijan’s education system, the Italy-Azerbaijan University, and sustainable partnerships between higher education institutions.

Vice-Rector A. Marcomini noted that Ca’ Foscari University has a historical collaboration with Azerbaijan and currently maintains partnerships with several Azerbaijani higher education institutions, including the Azerbaijan University of Languages and ADA University.

Professor E. Raganin, who previously worked at Berlin University as a professor of Turkology, emphasized that Azerbaijani linguistics is one of her main scientific interests and stated that one of her main goals in coming to Venice was to continue research and teaching in Azerbaijani linguistics.

It should be noted that Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, founded in 1868, is one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious higher education institutions. Within its Department of Asian and African Studies, a number of Eastern and Caucasian languages, including Azerbaijani, are taught.
