First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva meets a delegation led by Italian Senate’s deputy chairperson Linda Lanzillotta
First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva met, November 2, a delegation led by Italian Senate’s deputy chairperson Linda Lanzillotta.
Mehriban Aliyeva thanked Italian Senate’s deputy chairperson Linda Lanzillottafor the friendly relations shown towards our country. Underscoring the 25th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Italy this year, Mehriban Aliyeva noted with delight that there exist successful relations between our countries meeting bilateral interests.
Developing cooperation in a number of spheres - political, economic and humanitarian – was emphasized, underscoring our country’s contribution to Europe’s energy security, and it was brought to attention that by realizing the South Gas Corridor project, Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring Europe’s energy security will become more significant. It was told that, joining the TAP Project, Italy has been having a very fruitful cooperation with Azerbaijan in this sphere. Mehriban Aliyeva, noting that 60 percent of the works associated with the construction of the Trans-Adriatic (TAP) pipeline has been accomplished to date, expressed a hope the pipeline will be commissioned into operation on time.
Development of relations in a number of areas, at the same time, existence of bigger potential were underlined, expressing confidence that this potential would be used more efficiently. It was also noted at the meeting that projects may be implemented in the humanitarian spheres that would bring our peoples closer to each other.
Mehriban Aliyeva said she was hopeful that the visit by the Italian Senate’s deputy chairperson to our country will give impetus to the works done in this direction.
Thanking for the meeting, Italian Senate’s deputy chairperson Linda Lanzillotta noted that Italy was interested in developing the relations with our country.
