Event on Italy-EU-Azerbaijan relations is being held in Rome

An event titled "Italy, European Union and Azerbaijan relations: energy security and foreign policy" is being held in Rome.

The conference, organized by the Italian Institute for Asia (ISIA), the State Agency for Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), and the "Baku Political Scientists Club" Public Union, is attended by representatives of the Italian parliament and academia, analysts, and experts.

Delivering a speech, Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIRC), spoke about the current state of Azerbaijan-Italy relations, which are rising to the level of strategic partnership, and the prospects for cooperation.

"We are interested in expanding our relations with the European Union, including on energy and communication matters," he said.

Farid Shafiyev drew attention to the statement of Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, calling on some EU leaders to refrain from far-reaching comments on the situation in the South Caucasus and the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process.

"The official Rome's this and other positive steps demonstrate that Italy is one of the rational and peace-loving countries that clearly takes into account the interests of the European Union," the chairman of the Center for Analysis of International Relations stressed.

During the event, Luca Scueri, Secretary of the Labor Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, and Sergio Divina, Vice President of the Italian Institute of Asia, delivered speeches, expressing their satisfaction with the cooperation between the two countries and emphasizing the importance of further deepening relations.
