Azerbaijani Designer presents new collection in Milan
The brand “Institution”, founded by Azerbaijani designer Galib Hasanov, based in Milan, Italy, has once again attracted attention on the international fashion stage.
The designer presented his new collection, “Collection 04 – Su”, inspired by the spiritual and cultural symbolism of water. The word “Su” originates from the ancient Proto-Turkic language and means “water – the mirror of life and soul”. The main idea of the collection is to reflect the connection between humans and nature, as well as the harmony between tradition and modernity, through fashion.
The collection features women’s jackets inspired by traditional chapkan garments, handwoven fabrics, and unique design solutions. Women’s communities from the Masalli and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan actively participated in the creation of the collection. Primarily using the Typha Latifolia plant (reed/cane), they revived ancient weaving traditions.
Additionally, some handcrafted pieces in the collection were made by Azerbaijani communities in Georgia. These works draw inspiration from the ancient Borchaly carpet weaving traditions while being enriched with modern materials. For example, unique pieces made from cotton shoe laces symbolize the brand’s DNA.
Azerbaijani pianist Etibar Asadli also performed at the presentation. His live piano and DJ performance added a musical harmony to the collection and brought a special vibrancy to the event.
Galib Hasanov stated that the goal of “Institution” is to preserve cultural heritage, support women’s communities, and promote sustainable fashion.
The collection was presented with the support of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Italy.
