Azerbaijani delegation participates in the 25th Anniversary of the European Landscape Convention
At the conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the European Landscape Convention, Azerbaijan was represented by a delegation led by Umayra Taghiyeva, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, and by Rashad Aslanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Italy.
The conference, held in Florence, Italy, brought together all 41 member states of the Council of Europe. In his opening speech, Alessandro Giuli, Italy’s Minister of Culture, highlighted the importance of protecting natural landscapes, expanding international cooperation in this field, and implementing new programs and initiatives.
In her speech, Umayra Taghiyeva emphasized the significance of the outcomes of the recently held COP29 in Azerbaijan for landscape protection and sustainable development.
The Deputy Minister also shared information on ecological restoration efforts in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur, including initiatives to increase green areas, ensure sustainable land use, and implement other environmental projects. She further noted that preparations for the 2026 World Environment Day and the World Urban Forum, both to be held in Baku, are progressing successfully.
