Azerbaijan and Armenian Ambassadors in Rome shared their views on peace process between their countries
On 22 October 2025, within the framework of traditional annual Diplomacy Festival held in Rome, Italy, an event titled “Peace is always possible” was organised with participation of Rashad Aslanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Italy, and Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Italy.
During the event both Ambassadors shared their views on peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The event was moderated by Fabio Sokolowicz, Diplomatic Adviser to the Mayor of Rome.
Ambassador Rashad Aslanov informed the audience of around 150 scholars and students from different Italian and foreign universities about the peace agenda of Azerbaijan following the 2020 Patriotic War, including on negotiations on the draft Agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, work of the commissions on the delimitation and demarcation of borders, and on the importance of opening of communications. Ambassador reiterated the importance of eliminating the territorial claims against Azerbaijan for signing of the peace agreement. Historical importance of Peace Summit in Washington D.C. was emphasized. It was reiterated that the signed documents have created strong guarantees for the establishment of peace in the region. He underlined the importance of the regional transport corridor, agreed upon during the Washington meeting, known as the TRIPP route, which will restore unimpeded connectivity between the western regions of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while also serving as an alternative link between Asia and Europe.
At the end of the event, Ambassador Aslanov answered questions addressed by participants.
