Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Rome spoke about the youth policy in Azerbaijan

On January 25-28, 2024, the project called "The Future We Want Model United Nations: A Global Initiative for Young Leaders" was implemented at the initiative of the Italian Diplomatic Academy.

 Within the framework of the project with the participation of 100 young people from more than 20 countries, a conference titled “Empowering Youth to Reinforce Multilateralism”, was organized, and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Italy, Rashad Aslanov, was invited to participate in the conference as a keynote speaker.

 The purpose of the conference is to engage young people in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and to focus on the importance of youth voices in both understanding and implementing those goals.

 At the conference, a video address of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was heard, and a short video about the activities of FWW MUN was shared.

 The Executive Director of the Italian Diplomatic Academy, Abramo Chabib, made the opening speech and emphasized the need for joint actions regarding the critical issues facing the international community today and the important role of young people in this regard.

 Later, Diana Battagia, Director of UNIDO ITPO Italy, Helene Papper, IFAD Global Communications and Advocacy Division’s Director, ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, France, Iraq, Kosovo, Lesotho, Malaysia, Malta, Namibia, Sri Lanka in Italy, the permanent representative of Canada to the FAO, and the diplomats of the Embassies of Bulgaria and Chad spoke, shared their personal experiences with young people, and talked about the youth policy in their countries.

 In the speeches, young people were advised to continue their education at a high level, the importance of joint efforts against the cataclysms occurring in the world was emphasized, and it was stated that young people bear a great responsibility at all levels of the decision-making process.

 Aslanov talked about the youth policy in Azerbaijan, the scholarship programs offered within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, the newly established Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization with its headquarters in Baku, the "Golden Book" of Azerbaijani Youth, presented detailed information about the volunteering activities in our country, with a special mention of diplomacy volunteers. .

 At the end, on behalf of the Academy the speakers were presented with a commemorative plaque expressing "deep respect and sincere gratitude".
