8 November – Victory Day celebrated in Rome
The event was attended by compatriots living in Italy, students, officers, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and academic circles.
The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played first, and the memory of the sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our territories was honored with deep respect.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Italy, Rashad Aslanov, conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of Victory Day. The diplomat emphasized that the territories of Azerbaijan, which had been under occupation for nearly 30 years, were liberated during the 44-day Patriotic War by the invincible Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the President and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, thereby restoring historical justice. He also noted that following the local anti-terror operation carried out in September 2023, the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan were fully restored.
Rashad Aslanov stated that Victory Day is a celebration of national pride and dignity, highlighting that large-scale reconstruction and development works are currently underway in the liberated territories and that the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands is being ensured.
The Ambassador underlined that the peace agreement reached in Washington on 8 August of the current year once again clearly demonstrated that Azerbaijan is a country that consistently advocates peace initiatives.
Following the speeches, a concert program was presented by renowned tar player, Honored Artist Shahriyar Imanov, and pianist, jazz performer, and composer Etibar Asadli. Azerbaijan’s rich musical heritage and jazz-mugham improvisations were met with thunderous applause from the audience, creating great enthusiasm in the hall.
